Leon Bass was an African American liberator of the Buchenwald concentration camp. Listen to this podcast of Those Who Were There, which tells us a little more about his extraordinary life, his experience as a black soldier, the horrors of Nazi persecution and how he dedicated the rest of his life to educating about the dangers of hatred and racism.
We can only thank Leon Bass for his courage, perseverance, service to our country and his commitment to ensuring the next generation was a more tolerant and accepting one. Note: We recommend this testimony be used with mature student audiences.
