Descendants of the Shoah Conference

Sunday, September 11, 2022
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Descendants of the Shoah Conference is an opportunity to raise consciousness about Holocaust history, personal experiences and the continuity of remembrance. Through insightful dialogue, conversation and discussion, we will connect with our past by honoring and acknowledging those who perished, while providing support to inspire descendants and the broader community to never forget.  The conference will consist of three one-hour sessions, two in the morning and one in the afternoon. Coffee, snacks and lunch provided.  Kashrut observed.

The day will conclude with The Klezmer Institute who will be hosting a concert for our attendees. Their program will conclude with a concert titled “Trampled Manuscripts: The Lost Klezmer Music of the An-ski Expeditions” performed by the Bivolița Klezmer Trio (Bee-vo-lee-tsa) from Hamden, CT. The concert will present selections from a treasure trove of newly-available music accompanied by stories about the musicians and collectors who preserved this snapshot of Ashkenazic musical culture at the dawn of the twentieth century. This concert is co-sponsored by the Klezmer Institute and the Center for Judaic Studies and Contemporary Jewish Life at the University of Connecticut. We would like to thank the Puffin Foundation for their support of this concert.
