Holocaust Education Resource and Outreach (HERO) Center Coordinator, Farmington, CT
Job Type: Part-time, 15-20 Hours Per Week
Lessons learned from the Holocaust and other genocides provide a modern-day platform to promote social justice by confronting bigotry, racism, antisemitism, and all forms of discrimination. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to work with the Director of the Holocaust Education Resource and Outreach (HERO) Center, a program under VOH. The HERO Center is a resource which works closely with Connecticut schools, the CT Department of Education and VOH’s strategic partners throughout Connecticut. It provides tools for educators, students, and community members with a focus on Holocaust and genocide education around the region. It maintains and collects resources including curriculum, testimonials of survivors and descendants of the Holocaust and other genocides, as well as educational initiatives, programs, and professional development opportunities at a state and national/international level. This position is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students and the community at-large. Through the HERO Center, we ensure that VOH’s mission to promote a culture of courage to stand up against hatred through Holocaust and genocide education and remembrance is fulfilled. Responsibilities include: · Coordinating speakers in schools and community settings through the Speaker’s Bureau · Identifying schools not in our network and reaching out to them to introduce them to the HERO Center offerings to ensure they comply with the CT mandate · Cultivating relationships with survivors and their families · Organizing, coordinating, and marketing educational field trips for students to museums and memorials · Recording and tracking outreach and speaking engagements to be reported to VOH Board monthly · Creating monthly (or as needed) HERO Center newsletters · Creating HERO Center flyers for programs · Preparing donor thank you notes and maintaining contacts through our Network for Good database. · Maintaining VOH website, social media pages and Speaker’s Bureau · Managing various HERO Center projects · Attending VOH and community events · Attending Voices of Hope Board meetings · Willing to perform all day-to-day office functions, work closely with other Directors and pitch in where needed · Hybrid position. Ability to work remotely and out of the VOH office in Farmington, CT · This position reports to the Voices of Hope Executive Director Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Teaching and/or experience in Holocaust and other genocide studies or related field. Strong organization and writing skills a must. Willingness to participate in professional development to further knowledge base is expected. Some travel and night/weekend work may be required from time to time to execute programs and attend meetings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Sites, social media platforms and Zoom required. Experience with fundraising software like Network for Good, Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop preferred. Pay: $20.00/hr. |
