The Butterfly Project is a hands-on learning opportunity for students and community members teaching social justice through lessons of the Holocaust and educating participants about the dangers of hatred and bigotry to cultivate empathy and social responsibility. Organizations from all over the world are participating in this project to paint 1.5 million ceramic butterflies in memory of the 1.5 million children killed in the Holocaust. The project can also include oral history, film and literature to educate participants about the Holocaust.
